The Free State Griqua Council is an organisation that operates under a constitution, an organisational framework, and a protocol that it strictly abides by. It is committed to promoting the interests of the Griqua community in the Free State province of South Africa.

Considering the various challenges that have been faced by the Khoi San people, the Free State Griqua Council has implemented many projects to ensure our people live happy lives through continous growth and empowerment.

With our core focus being the development and improving peoples' lives, allowing them to live longer and happier. It is our goal to provide our people with employment, housing, services, and safe and healthy environments. It is about enriching people's lives so that they can realise their full potential to support themselves and their families.

Post-apartheid South Africa, we found that the knowledge base and worldview of the Khoi San first Indigenous peoples were largely missing. Although the South African government has established various mechanisms as agents for social change and institutions of higher learning have implemented transformation programs. Khoi San peoples, however, have obtained limited successes through their engagements with these institutions.

We realised the need for our people to be properly educated which gave rise to the implementation of the Khoi San Early Learning Center. This project was a collaborative effort between the University of the Free State and the Free State Khoi San Language Council.
